Clearing a Language Barrier: Speaking her Heart and Soul

“Tina,” a petite woman in her early 60s, is community college counselor. Tina wanted to feel more confident speaking Spanish. She told me that, from birth, she grew up hearing Spanish. She was very close with both of her grandmothers who only spoke Spanish with her. When Tina was less than two years old, her parents decided they would only speak English with her. They thought it would make life easier for her in Los Angeles if they stopped speaking Spanish to her.

Even though Tina had taken lots of Spanish classes in school, and had counseling on her Spanish language issues, she still felt as though there was something blocking her from speaking more fluent Spanish.
I decided to use Lindsay Kinney’s Ultimate Truth Statement (UTS) process, in which I had Tina come up with a concise statement in the present tense describing how she would feel when she reached her goal. Her Ultimate Truth Statement was, “I feel empowered and confident when I speak the language of my heart and soul.”, The rating system for the UTS process is a complete reversal from EFT. 0 represents-“no way in hell” and 10 equals “yes!” Tina rated her UTS at a “5.”

We then looked for whatever was in the way of her experiencing her Ultimate Truth Statement. She shared with me stories about her Uncle Jorge, who was like Archie Bunker. He teased Tina unmercifully from birth until she was in college. Whenever she spoke in Spanish, he would make fun of her. He tried to convince her that she was adopted. I asked her to imagine her life with her uncle as a TV sitcom, and to come up with a title that would make her laugh. The title was, “El Cabronsito con dos Lenguas”—just coming up with the title made her crack up and we decided to use this for a reminder phrase.

We went back to her Ultimate Truth Statement, because I felt she had shifted her energy. It went from a 5 to a 7, and we hadn’t tapped yet. So, she was already feeling stronger about her positive phrase.

Then I had her focus on her Uncle Jorge. I asked her to think about why he would have picked on her. She related that he was a very short man, and he had probably been picked on himself. When I asked what the intensity (EFT rating) felt like for how he had treated her, it was only a two. She had begun to feel compassion for him. I had her tap, and while tapping I included phrases for psychological reversals that included how weird EFT was; how there was a part of her that wasn’t quite ready to give up her story; and forgiving that part of her that “believed” her Uncle Jorge for all of those years. I also included Dr. Carrington’s method of arguing with herself: “I choose to let this go; no, I don’t; yes, I do.”

After two rounds of tapping and I asked Tina what the intensity level when she thought about her uncle. It had dropped almost to a zero. There was a tiny bit of resistance left, and she asked, “Can I really do it?” I asked where the resistance was and she said in her throat. Softly, I asked, “If the resistance in your throat could speak, what would it say?” She replied, “I’m afraid to make mistakes.”

We went back to her Ultimate Truth Statement, and I asked her to read it and rate it. Though it was now a 9.8, she still felt a tiny bit of resistance.

Then I asked who in her childhood would have pointed out her mistakes. She immediately replied, “Uncle Jorge’s wife, “Maria,” as she raised up her shoulders. Aunt Maria made fun of everyone in her family, and Tina was terrified of her. She was afraid to speak Spanish in front of her aunt, because she didn’t want her bad-mouth her. I asked about the intensity of the fear and tension that she was feeling when she thought of her aunt. It was between a three and four. We did two rounds of tapping on the fear she felt about her aunt, and how Tina had still been carrying around her aunt and uncle’s voices in her head, even though they were long dead. The intensity dropped to a zero and the whole thing felt humorous to her.

I asked her to read her Ultimate Truth Statement, and to tell me what the intensity was now. It was a 10. I then asked her to write and say it in Spanish, which she did with confident joy. She shared that she felt that something major had shifted within herself about her Spanish issue. She wasn’t feeling afraid of making a mistake anymore.

Bringing a Man into her Life

"Martha" is the same person I worked with over 3 months ago and helped her clear her mother issues. The other day we worked on clearing her stuff that keeps the perfect guy away from her.

We spent an hour tapping away old stories and beliefs about men. I also used Lindsay Kinney's "Ultimate Truth Statement" which is incredibly powerful. With the UTS, you make a compact statement of what you want. You state it in the present tense and you include words about how you will feel when you get what you want, but you say it in the present tense.

You say your UTS and see what the intensity of it is in this moment. The rating system is the opposite of what we use with EFT. A 10 would mean that it feels really true. A zero means that it feels absolutely impossible. If your intensity with the UTS is less than a 10. you work on letting go of the beliefs, stories and experiences that get in the way of you vibrationally experiencing what you want in your life.

Then you you EFT to clear the resistance to what you want.

Marth's UTS was:

I am happily in relationship with a man in my area. Our relationship is based on mutual respect and love . We have lots of fun playing together.

We cleared all of the stuff that came up, such as:

  • I had crappy programming when I was a child
  • My mother said "I should never get married"
  • I'm a runner
  • I'm afraid of being left and made to feel stupid
  • I'm never good enough
  • There isn't a good guy in my town
  • Fear of not being accepted
  • Not feeling safe

We cleared everything that came up. The anxiety that she had been feeling in her stomach disappeared. She could say her UTS with absolute conviction.

I am happily in relationship with a man in my area. Our relationship is based on mutual respect and love . We have lots of fun playing together.

I suggested that she tape it on her mirror so she could see it.

I'd also like to say, that Martha is on disability, and I have not met her face-to-face. We did this work over the phone. I don't even have a clue as to what she looks like. The truth is, it doesn't matter.

At the end of our hour together, she told me that EFT is her cup of tea, and that I am her teapot. She thought that was kind of funny because she doesn't drink tea... I felt honored that she trusts me so much.

I got an email from Martha today. Here is the essence of what she said to me:

wow, here we are again, I may have met the neat man that I can play with, he lives here in xxxxxx and is into all the way out spiritual stuff that I have a strong interest in, he has been on the internet and we have winked at each other for more than a year, and he finally gave me a way to contact him and I got gutsy and did, we talked for 5 hours last night.....he is what I like in the way of looks, a nice bad boy type that has learned, his life has followed similiar ways as mine.....will keep you posted you miracle worker... I did a back up treatment to take place with "cindy" on monday and I do not need it now.......and there are a few more men writing to me in this direct area.....one in xxxx which I love that valley???? thank you....."martha"

Clearing Mother Issues with EFT

A woman called me this morning, her voice sounding vaguely familiar. It turns out that I had worked with “Martha,” a middle-aged woman with diabetes, about pain she was having with her hip replacement. It had been over three months since we did that phone session. Martha explained that I had helped her to clear her "mother issues" in the span of a single one-hour session. She told me that she had spent years working with a number of therapists trying to release her "charge" around her mother, and that I was the one who had finally been able to help her.

As a very empathetic woman, Martha took on pain from the people around her. I asked her, “Who was a thorn in your butt?”

She immediately blurted out, “My mother!”

Knowing that the left side of the body represents the feminine, I found it interesting that Martha carried more pain there. As many of you know, the first female relationship in most of our lives is almost always with our mother. Martha believed that all of her problems stemmed from her mother, a perfectionist who wanted Martha to be petite. As a child, Martha did not feel emotionally supported or accepted by her mother. Martha rebelled against her mother’s plans for her, and had become a large woman. Martha felt her mother’s mantra was, “Let's make Martha feel like sh*t.”

As we talked about how her mother had treated her, Martha's felt upset in her stomach. The anxiety and tenseness that she felt was at a 9-10 out of 10. She said she felt like she wanted to puke.

I asked Martha to recall an early traumatic event with her mother. She remembered something that happened when she was four or five years old. We did several rounds of tapping on that particular event and how Martha felt right in that moment about what her mother had said.

My style is to try to find the humor in the situation. One of the reminder phrases was, “Mom is a thorn in my butt.” It worked = Martha cracked up! When she thought back to what her mother had done it became laughable, and the intensity dropped to between one and two. After two more rounds of tapping the intensity totally disappeared. When Martha thought about what her mother had done 50 years ago, the charge was gone! Her stomach no longer felt upset, anxious or tense. Even the pain in the left side of her body had disappeared.

Martha had called to let me know that her mother issue was really healed. She was still amazed that the work we had done over three months ago was still holding for her. She wanted to make an appointment for the next big issue in her life – she now wants to clear her beliefs, stories and emotional charges related to traumatic events that have resulted in her pushing men away. To prepare for the session, I told her to list negative events that are related to her not having a man in her life, and to be sure to go back as far she can remember.

I'm looking forward to working with Martha and clearing whatever is in the way of her allowing a man into her life!

Releasing Resistance to Exercise

Would you like to exercise more but just haven't been able to pull it off? Are you interested in some tips on motivating yourself to exercise? EFT is incredibly powerful in dealing with all kinds of conflicts. So, if part of you wants to exercise and another part doesn't -- that could be a conflict. There may be other excuses (I mean reasons :-) that you have for not exercising -- you want to make sure to tap on those, too.

Here's some setup phrases that you can try, Even though:
  • I know exercising is good for me, a part of me just doesn't want to do it, and I deeply and completely love and accept myself - even the lazy part.I know my body needs exercise, but I hate exercising ... and I deeply and completely love and accept myself
  • I don't have enough time to exercise … and I deeply and completely love and accept myselfI don't know when I would fit exercising in …
  • there's so many other things I would rather do than exercise …
  • exercise seems like a waste of time …
  • (Be sure to include all of your excuses and reasons why you haven't exercised)
When you save the setup phrases, you tap on your karate chop point (which is on the meaty part of your hand) with your fingertips or hit your karate chop points together.

Before you start tapping, remember to check the intensity of how much you do not want to exercise - with 10 being highest and zero for no resistance at all.

A reminder phrase helps you focus on your issue. “Exercise resistance,” and “hate to exercise,” are examples of simple reminder phrases. If you can come up with a reminder phrase that makes you chuckle, so much the better (I find humor to be incredibly powerful). Amusing reminder phrases are very particular to the individual, so what works for one person may not work for another. Some examples of funny reminder phrases could be ”lazy butt” or “couch potato.” Use the reminder phrase when you tap. Typically, you tap around seven times on each point.

When your intensity gets down to around three, you can start affirming the positive. Some examples:

  • I choose to fit exercise into my life
  • I choose to be aware of ways that I can be more energetic
  • I choose to use my body more often
  • I have fun using my body
  • I experience joy using my body
  • It's easy and fun for me to move my body
  • I find creative ways to infuse movement into my life
  • I love using my body
Exercise can have a bad rap. Find ways to sneak moving your body into your life. You can do things like:
  • Be more aware when you move your body
  • Park farther away and walk more
  • Do housework vigorously
  • Choose to put the remote control down and get your body up and about more often
  • Put a spring in your step
  • Walk with more vigorDo yard work
When I used EFT to motivate myself to exercise, I set my alarm clock 30 minutes early, and then before I got out of bed, I would tap on my resistance to exercising. After I cleared whatever was there for me, I would jump out of bed and start my exercise routine. I have great confidence that if you choose, you can find a way for EFT to work for you.

Letting Go of Sacrifice

Today, I did a phone session with a woman from Europe. “Heidi” told me that she would love to be in relationship with a man. It had been 10 years since she had been in relationship. Heidi said that she must be ambivalent about being with a partner. She realized that part of her would rather be alone, and another part of her really would love to be in relationship.

Heidi recognized that the possibility does exist that there could be a man out there that would meet her criteria, but that the probability is low. Now that she is older, in her late sixties, there aren’t as many men available.

We examined what is the payoff for being single, and she told me that she could do what she wants whenever she wants. She doesn’t have to ask anyone about what she is going to do with a question like, “does that suit you, dear?”

Heidi feels that she is willing to pay the price to be in relationship. She feels lonely and doesn’t have someone to share her daily life. However, she was afraid of being dependent.
We looked at the relationship that she had with “James” 10 years ago, and she realized that she had lost her identity and had become the sacrificing wife. One of her stories was that she was supposed to be a really good wife, and that she was responsible for the man’s happiness. She was supposed to cook a nice meal, and get his clothes in order. Part of her felt good about being a good wife, and another part (her Inner Teenager) felt rebellious about being his maid, and not being equal. She realized that she liked being a caretaker, but didn’t like it when she wasn’t appreciated. Heidi felt like she had some bitterness towards James and that she did a lot of sacrificing. The intensity of her feelings of sacrificing with James was a 7/10.

I asked her if James was just a trigger for her unresolved feelings of sacrificing. She shared that her mother had gotten pregnant on her honeymoon. Heidi was born a small baby and felt unwanted in the womb. She felt that her sacrificing began in the womb. Her core wound was that everyone else's needs are more important than her own survival. I must sacrifice for others became a lifelong mantra.
The intensity that she felt about sacrificing in the womb was a 9, where the intensity of her experience of sacrificing for James 10 years ago was a 7. The experience with James was a trigger, so I had her tap on her in the womb experience of sacrificing. I asked her to come up with a reminder phrase that would make her laugh at the cosmic joke and make a crack in the cosmic egg. Her reminder phrase was “bunch of baloney”.

After one round using the reminder phrase “bunch of baloney”, we were able to collapse the intensity to a zero. Heidi said that it was totally gone. We were able to do all of this, in less than an hour. She then told me she hopes to invite me to her wedding in the future.

Here was her testimonial that she wrote for the internet:
I found JoAnn 'by chance' on the Emofree.com and booked three sessions with her. What an absolutely wonderful experience. JoAnn helped me find the deepest layers of my issues - and I find her use of combining the various feelings around an issue into one word, representing them all in a word a two, as the essence - and also seeing it as a 'cosmic joke' absolutely brilliant. I went from a 10, with an issue that started even prenatally, to a flat 0 within a few minutes!! the thorough finding phase clearly helped, too.

I also recommend her without hesitation, nay, whole heartedly.

Tailbone Pain Disappears After Letting Go of Anger and Resentment Using EFT

Almost every Thursday, I take my three-year-old granddaughter to a toddler’s swimming class. The first thing I noticed when we got to the pool was that “Jenny”, the swimming instructor, was not in the pool like she usually was. She was standing out of the pool and she wasn’t wearing her swimming suit, which was really unusual. I've been taking my granddaughter to these classes for 2 1/2 years, and I have only seen Jenny not in the pool one other time (when she had a bad cold).

Jenny had fallen down five days ago hurting her tailbone and her left hand. She had taken some pain medication earlier in the day. I told her that I thought I could help her to feel better, and if she would like to try some EFT with me, after my granddaughter and I got out of the locker room.
We met Jenny in an activity room of the health club. Jenny wasn’t able to sit down because of her tailbone pain. So, we chatted while standing not paying much attention to the kids climbing under the tables and hopping about as 2 and 3 year olds do.

Jenny explained that the physical pain level right then was only about a 4/10. However, as she explained that she had fallen from a chair, and that her partner didn’t hear her calls, I could see how upset she was about how he treated her. She felt abandoned when he didn’t come, and upset that he scolded her like a child (she is almost 70 years old) when he found out that she had fallen off a chair while trying to reach something. She wanted to feel love from him instead of him acting like a “mean father”.

We tapped on the feelings that came up: anger, frustration, and resentment towards her husband. She asked for so little in life, and she was angry (the intensity was an 8) that he wasn’t able to give her empathy when she asked for it. I could see tears well up in the corners of her eyes, and we kept tapping to get it all out. When the intensity dropped to what I felt was around a 5 I had her argue with herself while tapping, and then affirm positive statements:

.....I want to let this go because this is no longer serving me
.....No, I don’t, I want to mad at him some more
.....Yes, I do want to let this go
.....No, I am not quite sure if I am ready to let this go
.....I choose to let all of this go
.....I am able to go to the calm place that is always within me
.....I am whole and complete
.....I experience the love that is always deep within me
.....I feel relaxed and calm
.....I am in balance

We had chatted and tapped for about 25 minutes oblivious to the kids running around us. She had never heard of EFT before our encounter and tapping. She sat down at the table. She hadn’t been able to sit down for days, and she did it with ease. We cleared the emotional pain, and to her surprise the ache that she had felt where she had fallen on her tailbone was gone.

A small miracle happened today in Ukiah. For Jenny, it wasn’t that small.

Dealing with a Colicky Baby

This is in response to a mother of a 14 day old colicky baby. http://tiny.cc/BJojF

Hi,

Great article.

Babies are really sensitive beings. they pick up on everyone's vibrations around them.

If moms have tried the football hold; tried burping; and the other suggestions. You may want to try Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).

I would start by tapping on how I am feeling about my baby crying. You want to get to your deepest feelings--and the negative things you say in your head.

You figure out the intensity of your own feelings and rate it with 10 being the highest.

Then you create a set-up phrase, for example,

....."Even though I have done everything I can think of, and my baby is still crying. I deeply and completely love and accept myself".

You tap the Karate chop point on the side of your hand while saying this or variations of it 3 times. You want to get down to your deepest feelings about this. It could be something like:

....."Even though I am not sure what to do about my baby crying his head off, and it is driving me crazy, and I deeply and completely love and accept myself."
.....Or "Even though I don't know if I can take any more crying, and I am at my wits end, I deeply and completely love and accept myself."

Then you tap on the points of the body--about 7 taps on each point saying your reminder phrase which could be "driving me crazy" or "crying baby". If you can come up with something that makes you laugh, that can move the energy within you.

You can also do surrogate tapping for your baby. While tapping on the Karate Point on the side of the hand say, "Even though I am ______(say the name of the child)".

Then you pretend/act as though you are the child. Then you use your imagination/intuition to guess what is up with your child.

While tapping on your Karate Chop point you could say,

....."Even though I am colicky and I have been crying for hours, I am an awesome baby, and my mommy loves me".
....."Even though I may have an air bubble or something else may be going on, I am an awesome baby."
....."Even though I am crying, and I can't tell my mom what is going on with words, I am an awesome baby."
.....Note: if you have a sense of what the problem is change the words.

Then you tap on the points on your body saying a reminder phrase like: "tummy ache" or "colicky pain" or "tired and wired".

Here is a chart of the points that I use to tap on.

Hope this helps,

Poison Oak Miracle

Last month, I was visiting with my daughter, Christina, and her boyfriend, Liam, in Santa Cruz. My husband and I were there houseguests for several days. I was surprised, when Liam shared with a friend how he had witnessed me helping someone be relieved of their extreme poison oak rash symptoms. I had forgotten that Liam was there, and that he had actually seen what had happened. My mouth was hanging open when he described the poison oak rash disappearing before his eyes.

So here's the story. It was over three years ago that we were celebrating my birthday at my sister-in-law's next to the Smith River. It was the beginning of autumn, and the leaves were turning beautiful shades of yellow and gold. The poison oak was turning different shades of red. It was truly a wondrous sight.

Eileen, our hostess, had invited a good friend over. I wanted to demonstrate the power of EFT to both Eileen and her friend, ”Virginia”. I decided to use Borrowing Benefits and work with two people at once. I don't remember what Eileen’s issue was, but Virginia had a huge poison oak rash on the crease of her inner arm. It was bright red and it oozed fluids.

We did a couple of rounds of EFT with both Eileen and Virginia tapping along. To everyone's amazement Virginia’s poison oak rash:

.....shrunk in size
.....turned from bright red to pink
.....stopped oozing
.....didn't itch as much

You've probably heard, “Try it on everything”. What do you have to lose? Maybe a miracle will happen. Are you ready for a miracle? You won't know if you don’t tap.

Helping a Middle-Aged Student Pass a Biology Class

As you may know, I am a co-moderator on the EFT Forum. Back a couple of months ago, a 57 year old man posted a request for help on passing a class. Biology was his last class to get his business degree. He had no interest in the class itself and he was having a hard time connecting with the style of his teacher. He wanted to be able to relax and get the best of a class that he had put off until the end. He also wanted to be able to learn and pass the test--even though he was an older guy.

Well, I recently found out that he successfully tapped away his fears/anxiety and he got a "B" on the test! Not only that, but he was able to use EFT to help with his carpel tunnel that he was experiencing from his desk and computer use.

If you are interested in the set-up phrases that I posted for him to use click here and scroll down to the second post.

EFT can work for many things. I don't see much evidence of people using EFT for clearing blocks for performance. EFT can work beautifully for test taking, as seen in this example. It is just a matter of remembering to use EFT for this application.

EFT can be used for performance in:

* test taking
* athletics
* sales performance
* writer's block
* artist's block
* giving birth
* range of motion in joints

Next time you think about wanting to do something better, think of clearing your blocks with EFT. If you have a block that you haven't been able to clear, you may want to contact me for a session.

Gratefully yours,

Releasing the Pain of a Son's Suicide

When I reach out to a friend who is in need, I don't always know whether what I have done has helped. Some time ago we were visiting with one of my husband's old high school friends. "George's" bi-polar teenage son had committed suicide eight years before. George's son, who had shot himself in the family room, died in his arms.

We were vacationing with George and his wife at Big Bear. Even though I didn't know George very well, I could tell that he was walking around with a heavy heart. After we were together for a couple of days, I got up my nerve to ask him if he wanted to talk about his feelings surrounding his son's death.

With a blank face, he started telling me what happened. He went into considerable detail, but it's not necessary to share all the gory particulars here. If it were a movie, I asked him, how long would it be, and what would be the title? He replied that the title was, "Shock and Horror," and that it lasted two to three minutes.

When he imagined the movie of his son dying, he felt terror, panic, and helplessness, and reported that the intensity of his emotions was between 3 and 4. He experienced these emotions manifesting as tightness in his chest.

After several rounds of tapping, I asked what was going on for him. He said he was experiencing the pain of losing his son, and the intensity was still between 3 and 4. We did another round, and the intensity went down to a 3, and he said he felt more relaxed. After two more rounds of tapping, he flashed back to turning his son over and seeing all the blood. He described the shock and panic he felt as completely overwhelming. He recalled telling his wife to call 911. Having been trained as a medic in the Navy, he could see that his son was dying. He felt as though a lightning bolt had struck him. He explained that ever since, at least once a day, he felt struck again by that lightning bolt, and it kept the memory alive. He said he feared forgetting the pain, that if he forgot the pain he might forget his son, and that the ongoing agony had become part of who he was. A few more rounds of tapping cleared the tightness in his chest, and brought the intensity down to a zero.

Tonight my husband got a phone call from George, wishing him a happy birthday. It had been months since they'd talked, and almost a year and a half since I had worked with George. He told my husband how much he appreciated me taking the time to work with him, and that after our session the lightning bolt never came back. As I sat quietly, meditating on the miracle of EFT, I felt tears of gratitude trickling down my cheeks. I only wish that everyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one could find the peace that George has.

Angina Pain and Surrogate Tapping

Last night someone posted this on the EFT Forum site (if you haven't been to this site it has lots of good information.

Hello all,

My mother-in-law has got severe angina pain and is admitted to hospital. She will be shifted tomorrow to another hospital for angiography. I have done my basic course on EFT and would like to help her. Please guide me how to proceed and what tapping sentences to use.

Regards,

VJ

Here is my response:

How are you doing with all of this? You want to take care of yourself.

PART 1: First, if I were you, I would tap for myself.

I would tap on my biggest fear, or strongest emotion. For example, Even though:

* I feel terrified that my mother-in-law may die, and I deeply and completely love and accept myself
* I am not quite certain what to do, and I want to make sure that whatever I do that I don't make a mistake...
* I want to help my mother-in-law so much, and I am feeling some uncertainty (use your own words)...

I am just imagining what you may be feeling... If these phrases don't work for you, tap on the emotions that are there for you. When the intensity gets down to around a 3, then start affirming the positive for yourself. Listen to the gifts that your intuition is giving you. Some phrases that you could use:

* I am whole and complete
* I am being guided as what to do and say
* I trust my inner knowing
* I am calm and at peace
* I listen to my heart
* (continue to say positive phrases that come from your heart)

Part 2:
Tapping surrogately for your mother-in-law.

You don't need to wait. I think that you can do a better job after clearing whatever resistance/blocks that you personally have (like I described in Part 1). Something cool about this, is that you don't even have to with her for it to work. If you happen to be with her, and you can look into her eyes and send love her love. If that isn't possible, that is OK, too.

You may want to imagine what happened to cause your mother-in-laws angina pain. Was there a recent big trauma or loss? What has been upsetting to her? Another words, what strong negative emotions may she have experienced recently? Or has she been carrying around some deep sadness. If you don't know her stories, you may want to ask your partner or her partner...

Here is one way to do it. Say something like: Even though I am (say your mother-in-laws name) and I am doing this for my highest good. Now, you are going to be one with your mother-in-law energetically, and make stuff up.

Even though:

* something just happened that caused me severe agina pain (if you have an idea what it was or have a hunch--you can add it here), and I deeply and completely love and accept myself
* I have a deep pain in my heart...
* my heart is trying to give me a message... (if you hear it, you can tap on it)
* (as you are tapping on yourself (for your mother-in-law AS your mother-in-law), pause and listen deeply with your heart--if something comes into your mind/heart--tap on it AS your mother-in-law--in the first person)

Also, remember that we are All Spirit. Be in the moment with this process. Be grateful.

I hope that this helps in some way. VJ, know that you can't do it wrong--trust your own guidance...

Well Being is our Natural State

Last night, while laying in bed, I picked up Money and the Law of Attraction and opened it to a page asking for guidance. I turned the page 112 and also read the line from the page before which read,

When you begin to look for and understand the vibrational causes for diseases rather than looking for cures, then you will come to the end title of diseases when you are able to deliberately accomplish the emotion of ease and its accompanying vibrational alignment, it is possible to live disease free.

The next couple of sentences, are powerful, too:

Most people spend very little time basking in appreciation for the wellness that they are currently experiencing... good feeling thoughts produce and sustain physical well-being.... Your natural state is one of wellness.

So, people who get caught in trying to figure out what is wrong with them, what is the name of the disease they have, it puts them in a Catch-22. I remember with Lyme disease, and there's a part of me that wants to say "my Lyme disease". I believe that is extremely bad because we are identifying with it on a whole other level. Ownership. The question is do we own it or does it own us. As long as we use that word "my" we are dragging this disease around.

It's not very often that we hear people say "my ease", but frequently we hear "my disease" (filling in the name of their disease). I have a friend, who's just a couple years older than me, the recently died. I remember her telling me a couple of years ago how old she was getting, and that she wouldn't be lasting much longer. Several months ago, she e-mailed her friends including me explaining her condition. It was rare and painful. The more she researched about it, the worse she felt. I called her and empathized. I tried to find a way to help her out of her condition, but she seemed more interested in believing what the specialists were telling her and what she read online about her condition.

My website is called WayHealthy... I've loved that name, but haven't known quite where to go with it. The "way to health" is within each of us. As Abraham says, wellness is our natural state. It is a matter of aligning with our essence. When we feel good, we are aligned. We don't, we're missing the mark. Our cells are intelligent. They do know what to do, but we need to get our negative beliefs out of the way."I get a cold every winter." "When it's cold outside I might catch a cold."

According to Abraham it is our thoughts and our thoughts alone that are causing the resistance that is preventing the wellness. On page 113 of $&LoA, Abraham asks,

can you direct your thoughts positively regardless of the condition?

That is where knowing how to be in the present moment and being able to align with essence pays off. No matter what is going on, we are just a twinkling of an eye from alignment/essence. It is about awareness and remembering who we really are no matter what is going on.

Page 116,

Practiced alignment -- brought about by consistently good feeling thoughts -- is the path to being pain free. Pain is only a more empathetic indicator of resistance.

In the 70s, for seven years I taught aerobics class for women through our local adult school. After about 45 minutes of working out, I would have the women lie down on the floor and then I would guide them through a progressive relaxation and then guided visualization using the golden healing light to focus on any area of the body that was feeling pain or tension. It was one way of letting go of resistance...

Something I learned when I was training myself for the birth of my children without the use of drugs, are some different techniques that alleviated pain. One, that comes to mind, is holding a small object, like a match, on the palm of your hand, and focusing on that object, and relaxing the body. It was a form of relaxation and distraction. It usually worked, and I can see adding focusing on the Well-Being is even more powerful.

Shifting the focus from disease to well-being is where it is at. Giving thanks for our health -- yay -- is the way to go. Focusing on what we want instead of what we don't want. Abraham repeats this theme over and over and over again. Why is it so hard for people to get? Our culture seems to thrive on bitching and complaining about how bad things are.

So, we need to stay in balance and harmony with our essence. Awareness is really important, too. If we notice that we are getting out of alignment, as when a negative emotion pops up, that is when we can improve our vibrational balance. If we don't, the vibration gets stronger and stronger until it gets our attention. If we are aware, and catch it early, it doesn't have to turn into something nasty. On page 124, second paragraph, Abraham talks about the secondary benefit of getting sick. We need to be honest with ourselves. If we had used sickness in the past for getting out of doing things, it's important to see that pattern. If we do, then we can be a choice, and choose what we want without having to get sick. EFT can be used to clear that old pattern.

Tap and Bitch

Why carry around negative emotions? It simply isn't necessary. All you need to do is to remember to Tap 'n Bitch. If you take the time to use this process, you will not only have more energy, you'll feel great!

Tap 'n Bitch
is a powerful technique. Any time you find yourself spinning your wheels about a certain situation, event, issue or circumstance, there is something dramatic you can do that is both easy and fun. We all know that negative emotions stored in our body often turn into dis-ease. So why wait and let it turn into something nasty, when you can get it out now?

The first step is to decide on the issue. In other words, you need to be specific. The next step is to come up with a number between 1 and 10 that represents the intensity of your feelings about this issue, with 10 being the highest. You want to write the number down so you can refer to it later. The third step is to come up with your setup phrase (you can use this formula as a template):

Even though___________________________________ I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Example: Even though I am angry at Darla for using my toothbrush again, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Step four is to repeat the setup phrase three times while tapping on your karate chop point on the side of your hand.

Your reminder phrase sums up what your issue is and you say it while you're tapping on your points. Though not strictly necessary, it's extremely helpful to come up with a reminder phrase that is humorous or clever. Using the above example, I might use “yucky toothbrush”.

Step five – While saying your reminder phrase, tap on each body point approximately seven times. Check in with yourself after the first round, and do a second round if necessary. For me, step six, where you Tap 'n Bitch, is where I have the most fun. Start with your first point, and while tapping, bitch about your issue. Go ahead! Whine, complain, make pathetic excuses – really go for it! Continue for about 10 seconds or so on each point, then take a breath and go to the next point, bitching all the way. Add lots of colorful words and cussing to spice up your bitching. This really helps move the energy, and that is the idea with EFT. You want to get the negative energy out of your system.

After you've finished a round or two, check your intensity level and see how it compares with where you started. Repeat steps 4-6 until you get it all out. If you still feel a charge about this issue and you can't think of new things to say – repeat yourself. The goal is to get the intensity level as close to zero as possible.

Please do not try my Tap 'n Bitch technique while driving or operating heavy equipment. If you're shy or care what strangers think about you, consider not doing this in your local coffee shop.

Here is a link to the points I recommend using.

How I Eliminated the Pain of a Minor Burn

Today, it was a beautiful day in my garden. I noticed a pile of debris that I had stacked during the summer. There were dried artichoke flowers, sunflower heads and stems, burdock stalks and seeds in the pile, Blackberry vines and various other things I didn't want to put in my compost pile were also stacked in this pile of debris. There was just a slight breeze so I decided it would be a good day to burn it.

After I started burning the debris, and I used a pitchfork to toss pieces back onto the fire. The end of the pitchfork fell off, and there were some small pieces that I picked up with my bare hands and threw back on to the center of the fire. Can you guess what I did? I burnt my hand. One of the pieces was red-hot where I grabbed it with the palm of my hand. So, I decided to use EFT. The palm of my hand hurt. I didn't bother giving a number for the intensity of the pain. I just started tapping on the karate chop point immediately saying Even though:

.....it was really stupid for me to pick up that burning branch with my bare hand, I deeply and completely love and accept myself
.....it really hurt where I got burnt on my palm...
.....I wish I would've been so stupid to pick up that burning branch with my bare hands...

Tapping on my body, my first round, I enthusiastically used "really stupid" as my reminder phrase. My second, third and fourth round, included ranting about how stupid I felt for picking up a hot branch with my bare hand.

Two hours after the burning of my palm, I could still see a red mark on my hand and the intensity of the pain was down to about a "one". Five hours after the incident, the intensity was less than a "half "and the red mark was barely visible.

So, how can you use this information? Let's say you hurt yourself. You can ask yourself "how do I feel about what just happened?" Many times, when we hurt ourselves we feel stupid or embarrassed. Get in touch with how you feel and start tapping. You start with your setup phrase which is this formula:

Even though_____________________( include how you feel) I deeply and completely love and accept myself. You repeat your set-up phrase three times while tapping on your karate chop point (which is on the side of your hand).

Then, start tapping on the points on your body. You can use a reminder phrase, so you remember why you are tapping. After a round of tapping, continue tapping and rant about how you feel about what just happened. If you feel embarrassed, because people are watching you tap, you may choose to get somewhere private: a bathroom stall, your bedroom, or your car. The important thing is to tap and release any emotions you may be feeling so you can speed up the healing process.

Excuses for keeping weight on-- and what you can do about it

I was really surprised to find how easy it was to lose weight with EFT, and to keep the weight off. I've spent the majority of my life around 20 to 30 pounds more than I weigh now.

I think the first step in losing weight with EFT is readiness. Am I ready to do what it takes to lose weight and keep it off. If you're just thinking about it, that is start, but it's not the same as being ready, I mean really ready to deal with the emotions that are underneath the fat. That is why diets don't work, because you really don't get to the issues that cause you to overeat eat when you diet. Typically, you lose weight, then you gain it back and then some.

A powerful question to ask yourself is what is the benefit of keeping this extra weight on? What would be harder for me if I were thinner? When you come up with the answer to this question you can use EFT to clear whatever is there.

What are some of the reasons you may be keeping weight on:
.....I can't afford a new wardrobe
.....my fat girlfriends would be mad at me
.....men would come on to me
.....women would come, on to me
.....I would draw too much attention
.....I might have an affair with someone
.....I am too lazy
.....I am too old to lose weight

After you come up with a reason or pay off for keeping extra weight on, you can use EFT so it is no longer an issue.

Let's say your issue for keeping weight on is that you feel you can't afford a new wardrobe. Your setup phrase could be Even though:
.....I can't afford a new wardrobe, and I deeply and completely love and accept myself
.....I'm afraid if I lost weight all of my clothes would be too big...
.....I might feel embarrassed wearing clothes that just hang on me...
You tap on your karate chop point on the side of your hand while saying the above setup phrases. Here's a chart of all the tapping points I'd like to use.

For tapping on the body, you could use this script (and feel free to make any changes in the wording it works for you). By the way, I like to tap on both sides of the body whenever possible.

First round
: tap on each point around 7 times:

.....inside the eyebrow: can't afford a new wardrobe
.....outside the eyebrow: my clothes won't fit
.....under the eyes: I don't have money for a new wardrobe
.....under the nose: can't afford new clothes
.....under the bottom lip: don't have any extra money
.....collarbone: can't afford new clothes
.....under the arms (on the bra strap area): no money for clothes
.....liver point (on the ribs under the breast): no clothes money
.....wrist points (on the wrist crease below the palm of your hand) no extra money
.....top of head (or the crown chakra): no clothes money

Second round

.....inside the eyebrow: I don't think I can afford a new wardrobe
.....outside the eyebrow: but I want to lose weight
.....under the eyes: I am tired to being overweight
.....under the nose: but what if I lose weight and don't have the right clothes
.....under the bottom lip: I don't know what I will do
.....collarbone: I can look in my closet and find something that would work for when I lose 10 pounds
.....under the arms (on the bra strap area): maybe I can start losing weight and figure out what to do after I lose the weight
.....liver point (on the ribs under the breast): I think I can work it out
.....wrist points (on the wrist crease below the palm of your hand) I'm not sure how to work it out yet
.....top of head (or the crown chakra): I'm not let this old story stop me from losing weight

Third round

.....inside the eyebrow: my old story was an excuse
.....outside the eyebrow: I choose to let go of this old story about not being able .....to afford a wardrobe
.....under the eyes: I choose to let go of this extra weight
.....under the nose: I choose to be aware of my feelings around food
.....under the bottom lip: I will remember to tap if I am eating unconsciously
.....collarbone: I know I can do this
.....under the arms: I remember to tap when I feel anxious around food
.....liver point: I choose to be at my ideal weight and size
.....wrist points: I'll figure out what to do about clothes when I get there
.....top of head: this is easy

I am available to do phone sessions if you get stuck. I have great success at helping people get unstuck. Why wait? My website: http://wayhealthy.us. Looking forward to helping you become your ideal size.

Down to size 10 pants--first time in almost 50 years

If you have tried EFT in dealing with getting to the weight that is your ideal, and you are still larger than what you would really like to be--then you probably haven't got down to the core issues--yet... I am walking proof that when you clear the stuff that is driving one to overeat AND are willing to be aware of feelings/thoughts around food/body that the weight can come off and stay off.

From 13 years old to 62 years old, I have carried extra weight--even as an athlete--when I was working out basically all day long--I was overweight (I was a PE major in during the 1960s and got a teaching credential in PE. When I taught aerobics, I was 20 pounds overweight and buff at the same time and I couldn't lose the weight--because I wasn't getting down to the core issues).

The other day I went shopping for clothes. I picked out a bunch of size 12 pants--they were all too big--YAY!!! I ended up getting size 10 pants. I haven't been able to wear size 10 pants all of my adult years. I think I might have been able to wear size 10 when I was 13 years old. This to me is a small miracle that I can wear a size 10 pants now!

Ladies, don't give up on your body, and having it at a size that reflects Who You really Are--a powerful Goddess! If you are interested in getting to the size that is your ideal for your frame, find someone who knows how to assist you at getting to the stories/patterns/beliefs that you need to unblock. By the way, I am available to do sessions via phone. You can contact me email or phone. Or take my FREE How to Stop Pigging Out During the National Eating Season Teleseminar on November 13. Email me to sign up.

Insider Secrets--for being a more successful EFT practitioner

I was recently introduced to Insider Secrets--it is for people WHO are interested in HAVING a more successful EFT BUSINESS. I know that I am interested in being more successful.

I would like to share one tip that I have learned from the following individuals (through audio interviews by Angela Treat Lyon. THEY are also transcribed--so, I listen to them and then read along while I take notes). Each interview is more or less than an hour.
  • Lindsay KINNY is one of best EFT teachers around. I actually love assisting at her workshops. One point that she makes is not to take on clients if they are suicidal or if they are on 4-5 mood altering drugs. THEY OFTEN NEED MORE SPECIALIZED HELP--I'M A COACH, NOT A PSYCHOLOGIST.
  • Carol Tuttle: She has made mucho dollars with EFT, and she started out doing FREE speaking engagements and created audios from those.
  • Stacey Vornbrock: Tells her amazing story of how she switched from a therapeutic career to working with athletes (and she didn't know anything about athletics) and started out FREE until she felt confident about golfing and then started charging $100/hour.
  • Angela Treat Lyon: She shares some of the major mistakes she made when she first started out doing EFT and what she would have done instead, RIGHT FROM THE START, AND HOW SHE WOULD market herself as an EFT practitioner--this is INVALUABLE for EFT practitioners WHO want more business.
  • Ann Ross: She sounds so elegant with her beautiful British accent. At 56 years old, while looking for another job was told that she was too old. While studying to be a therapist she discovered EFT. One of the things she talks about is branding. She emphasizes how important it is to speak the language of the people you talk to.
  • Rebecca Marina: She is a Texan live wire!!! Her story is fascinating. I am using one of the ways that she shares on how to be more intuitive. Intuition is vital for doing great EFT sessions.
I am trying to listen to one interview a day. I am impressed with what I have listened to so far. I haven't yet listened to: Brad Yates on abundance, Samantha Hartley on branding, Colleen Fanagan, Dr. Joe Rubino, Gwyneth Moss, Pat Carrington, and Rue Hass to name a few. There is a lot more GREAT STUFF.

If you are interested, you can go to this link. There is a half price sale going on right now. Check it out!!!

This is like going to a workshop, but you don't have to waste gas, pay for a hotel, and you can listen to it in your bath robe and bedroom slippers (if you wish).

Gratefully yours,

JoAnn

How to stop pigging out

Recently I heard that from now through the rest of the year a large part of the population gains 10 pounds. WOW!!! The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. Then there is Halloween... then Thanksgiving and all of the stuffing. And if that wasn't enough--then comes the Christmas season. Finally there's, the New Year's celebrations. With all of these events comes celebrating with our friends and family with lots of food and sometimes alcohol. Shew, just thinking about it gives me a stomachache.

But wait, there is something that you can do! Tada--EFT. If you haven't used EFT to eat less, then you are missing out on an extra powerful use of this valuable tool.

How would you start? With EFT this is no one cookie cutter answer for every single person. However, one way would be to first tap on your unwillingness to miss out on any of the goodies that may be coming your way through the rest of the year.

You could tap on your karate chop point, saying:

Even though:

* my inner child doesn't want to give up any goodies--ever, I deeply and completely love and accept myself
* there is a part of me that feels like I deserve all of the goodies that are offered to me, and I don't want to say "no" to any of them...
* no one can make me not eat any of the goodies that I have been looking forward to all year...
* there is a part of me that feels that I don't want to control myself around any of the treats that are going to be available the rest of the year...

If your inner child is anything like mine, she feels like she deserves it ALL. Oh yeah, you might want to add at the end of one or more of the above statements:

* I forgive myself for pigging out in the past
* I forgive myself for being out of control with goodies and treats--I really was doing the best I could at that time

I would love for you to make comments. Sometimes I feel like no one is out there (and I know that you are).

With love and respect for where you are on your path to respecting your body and how you are with food.

Gratefully yours,

JoAnn
