A Freedom without Men

Wow!!! If you really knew me, you would know that in the seventies and eighties one of my biggest joys was teaching classes to women: exercise classes, relaxation classes, exercise classes for pregnant women; and self-image classes to name a few. Even though, most of the EFT classes that I have been teaching have been primarily women, there is a big difference for me if a class is for women only. What happens is that women can communicate in a way that is much freer than if men are present.

In Mendocino, I have just about completed three of four classes in a series of I Love My Body with a focus on losing weight. It was so much fun for me to be able to say whatever came into my mind. I said things that I would have not allowed myself to say if men had been in the room. There was a freedom to speak the unspeakable that was available for all women in the room. If men would have been there I know that I would have censored my words. However, since it was all women, I found my censoring device was turned off. I felt totally alive, and one with spirit.

I imagine that I will be teaching many more classes that a just for women.

How I Cleared a Food Aversion in 5 Minutes

On a recent hot summer morning, my husband, Steve, offered me some ripe, ice-cold, cantaloupe. He said, "Too bad you don't like cantaloupe. It doesn't get any better than this one." I remembered hearing about people clearing a food issue with EFT, so I thought I might as well try it. I had detested eating cantaloupe for as long as I could remember. My sister didn't like it either, which made me think that "something" happened while we were eating cantaloupe when we were girls.

The set-up phrases I used(while tapping on my karate chop point) were, Even though: I don't like the taste of cantaloupe, and I don't know why, I deeply and completely love and accept myself. I don't ever remember liking the taste of cantaloupe... my sister and I don't like the taste of cantaloupe... something may of happened while we were eating cantaloupe, and I don't remember what it was....

Then I did a round of tapping. For the reminder phrases I used: don't like cantaloupe, doesn't taste good; don't like the taste; don't ever remember liking the taste.

Then I took a taste of cantaloupe. It was cold, somewhat crisp, and felt good in my mouth. It didn't taste quite as bad as I thought it would, but I couldn't say that I liked it. So, I did some more set-up phrases while tapping on my karate chop point. Even though: cantaloupe has always tasted yucky to me... something happened to make it so I don't like the taste of cantaloupe, and I don't remember what it was... there is something about the aftertaste of cantaloupe I don't like....

I did a round of tapping using the following reminder phrases: yucky taste; yucky cantaloupe aftertaste. For the testing, I took a big bite of cantaloupe. "Yum, not bad," as I continued eating a giant piece of a fresh, juicy, cantaloupe.

In about five minutes, I cleared a food aversion that I have had for over 50 years. Even though I had a sense that something may have happened in my past while I was eating cantaloupe, and even though I couldn't remember exactly what it was, I was still able to clear my resistance to the taste. Now, I can finally enjoy a food that I had eliminated from my diet when I was a child.

California is on Fire

Staying Calm During Catastrophes Using EFT

We have been living under the stress of several large forest fires that, for the past couple of weeks, have been raging within a couple of miles of our home. The above photo was taken from our front yard. I felt totally helpless, even terrified as I saw the giant plume of smoke billowing up. Though we were put under a Mandatory Evacuation Order on Saturday, we chose to stay and get our homestead more fire ready. While the Mandatory Order was lifted on Sunday afternoon (back to a warning), Mendocino County, where we live, is still under a national state of emergency.

My biggest fear was of losing our home. One of the many calls I received was from another land owner just up the way. He is currently living out of the area, He talked about how helpless he felt not being here. I wrote this article hoping to help people in a similar situation.

If you are terrified of a wild fire - for yourself or others - here is something you can do that will help you function more effectively, freeing your emotions so you can think and act more clearly.

First, get in touch with the emotion you are experiencing. For example, fear of the fire. You can change the words to work for you.

For the set-up phrase, you would say something like the sentence below three times while tapping on your Karate Chop point, which is on the meaty side of the hand (use either hand - it doesn;t matter):

Even though I am terrified of the fire and what it may do, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Then you would tap on the different points (I have attached a chart to help you see where to tap).
Top of Head:I am really terrified about the fire (Repeat phrase while tapping on the following points)

Inside Eyebrow:
Under Eye:
Under Nose:
Chin:
Collarbone:
Under Arm:

Keep repeating until you feel less fear. Then you can tap on the positive.

Top of Head: I choose to feel less fear
Inside Eyebrow: I am feeling calmer
Outside Eye: I release my fear now
Under Eye: I choose to feel calm so I can think better
Under Nose: I choose to release any remaining fear
Chin: I release remaining fear now
Collarbone: My mind is calm and I can think clearly
Under Arm I appreciate how clearly I can think

Also, if the emergency is triggering emotions from past events, you can use EFT to clear the emotions around those particular events. Releasing those emotions will make it much easier to deal with the present moment without all of the garbage from your past.

If the catastrophe that you are coping with is something other than a fire
(perhaps flooding or tornados), it doesn't matter. Just get in touch with the major emotion that you are feeling, and use the set-up phrase:

Even though I feel terrified about ___________, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
