A Novel Approach to EFT

I received an email about Dangerous Aspects, an exciting novel that includes EFT in the plot. I copied the entire email for you to read. If you decide that you want to purchase it, do it on September 12 via amazon.com--to help it get on a best sellers list. In the email below there is a review by Tam Llewellyn-Edwards, EFT Master.--JoAnn

Dear All,

Dangerous Aspects
EFT needs a story. And now it has one!

I am writing to you with the encouragement of members of the AAMET Yahoo posting group Meridian-Energy@yahoogroups.com to tell you of plans afoot to promote, for our mutual advantage, the world’s first thriller novel that has Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Energy Psychology (EP) entwined throughout the story lines. The title is “Dangerous Aspects”.

Let me first give you a small amount of background information concerning the content of my email to you.

"Dangerous Aspects" “looks to the world” and so gives a glimpse to the future of EFT and the lives of everyday people!

Is my mail to you worthy?

My answer to you is this. I am an EFT therapist and trainer. I believe in the goodness of my work and I am pleased to have been inspired to write my debut novel that embraces in the story lines the topic of EFT/EP.

The aim of my work is to spread the healing messages of Energy Psychology and EFT in particular to the wider audience being those most likely to be readers of fiction and not self help books.

A recent incident is worth mentioning here. On the 27th August 2008 in my capacity of therapist I gave a talk and a practical demonstration of EFT to clients of the Pain Clinic at a local hospital. Within a minute or two of starting I asked the capacity audience; “Who has heard of EFT?” How excellent it would have been if just a few hands had raised in response! None did!

I feel it is time to act cohesively to overcome the general public's lack of awareness about the healing offered by the EFT/EP community. Pain sufferers are one such group of people we trained and committed ourselves to offer healing to, wouldn't it be good if we had an outreach mechanism to the popular 'fiction' readers market place?

Do we need to tell the world of our healing mission?
Or should we remain guardians of one of the best kept secrets ever?

I and many other members of Meridian-Energy group believe we should take the opportunity, using my work “Dangerous Aspects” as the lever, to tell the world by making a collective effort to put the book into the best sellers list. By being in the best seller lists the book will start to attract the attention of the wider market at a faster rate than could be hoped for in the self help genre.

Will you join us?

Metaphor and story telling has always been the most successful way of transferring wisdom from one to another. “Dangerous Aspects” has been inspired and written to do just that - to tell the world the EFT story and transfer the story into a reality for many who seek healing.

EFT/EP credentials: First thing to mention is that Tam Llewellyn, Mair Llewellyn and Gwyneth Moss have all contributed to the book and are named on the cover.

Of “Dangerous Aspects” Rue Hass wrote “I hope that the book finds its audience, and that it is a good vehicle for spreading the word about EFT.”

The publication of “Dangerous Aspects” is intended as a turning point in the growth of EFT: no longer “weird tapping stuff” but the stuff of a fast paced modern story with strong healing messages. Many more will follow:

Ann Adams wrote “I wish you well in your project. I hope to see many such novels using EFT as an option in the problem solving in the future.”

“Dangerous Aspects” is Milton language targeted at the mass market - a market that self help books may never reach. Story telling and metaphor have carried wisdom to the masses since time immemorial and this work is exactly that. With a little help from my friends and Godspeed it will soon reach its target audience by the millions.

The healing messages carried in "Dangerous Aspects" are targeted towards those who buy or read fiction and not necessarily self help books, yet all Mankind deserves to find healing. The concluding pages of the book have within them a large EFT/EP resources section to lead the readers to EFT/EP practitioners, books and AV material.

Tam Llewellyn has written the foreword to the book as well as the first review.

Gwyneth Moss has donated the penultimate page, an ‘EFT on a Page’ illustration.

Mair Llewellyn has created the cover of the book and as you can now see it is a wonderful and beautiful piece of Spirit-inspired art.

Mair said of the book “This is the first ever novel that has captivated me from cover to cover”

The plan is this:

Devised by British EFT Trainer Moira Buchanan, we buy as many copies of “Dangerous Aspects” as we can all on the same date.

Mair Llewellyn has suggested buying multiple copies and using them as gifts (or giveaways to clients also).

The suggested date for the multiple purchase has been set at the 12th September 2008.
What to do:
To maximize the chances of success would you please take it upon yourselves to forward this message to your lists? That would be: family, friends, co-workers, students and of course clients.

This mass buy-in will allow the book to rise through the sales audits. The objective is to try and make the top 100 best selling books in the shortest possible time. Once we have achieved this "Dangerous Aspects" will be able to be seen by those who purchase works of fiction which will therefore take the book – and its healing messages – into the mainstream market place. This will lead mass market readers to EFT/EP.

Can you help do this?

The selected retailer for the ‘buy in’ of “Dangerous Aspects” are either
www.amazon.co.uk

or

www.amazon.com

The thought of God/the Universe is in everything. So if you are undecided whether to help this project let me ask you to test yourself in the following way. Muscle test the following two statements:
Holding the thought of the book “Dangerous Aspects” ask “ is it for my higher and greater good to support the objectives of the work “Dangerous Aspects” and its healing objectives? You will stay strong and please remember this book contains violence, murder, kidnapping and drug running. With that combination you would expect to go weak; however the book is beautifully intentioned and you will stay strong.

Now ask a second question whilst being muscle tested. “Is it for the greater and higher good of the Universe and this World to support “Dangerous Aspects” and its healing objectives? You will stay strong!

So what will you do NOW with the two strong responses from your muscle test?

I do welcome your contribution to bring this work and its wisdom to those who need it with this fabulous plan. To be honest we can only bring more healing to the world than we are bringing now, so what’s not to do!
I am passionate to do all I can to bring healing and so peace to our World, and this is the purpose of my contacting you.

I thank those members of Meridian-Energy group who have encouraged me to make this outreach.
Your support would be fantastic!
Many thanks for your time and attention.

Many Blessings and Best Wishes,

And of course big hugs,

“Dangerous Aspects” by Colin Winston Aldridge

A review by Prof. Tam Llewellyn-Edwards, EFT Master.

See the review on the EFT web site here

Here we have a very exciting book – two books in one in reality.

Firstly it is a novel about a woman’s difficult divorce and a ‘good read’ it is too. You can read it simply as a novel with its twists and turns, its murders and intrigues. It is an entertaining novel you will not want to put down and it is worth reading.

The central character, Sondra Ackerman, finds her world turned upside down by the discovery of her husband’s involvement in drug racketeering. She did not realize that her decision to leave him and cooperate with the US Federal Authorities would result in the brutal murders of people she cared about and would put her precious children at dire risk. Sondra turns to her best friend, Connie, who is an alternative therapist, and eventually into the world of alternative health therapies when more traditional routes to help maintain her sanity collapse before her.

Sondra is forced to flee with her children, from her husband’s world of danger to the US Government’s Witness Protection Program, where she struggles to stay alive.

The story follows a web of rage, murder and deceit from Philadelphia to Mexico recounting her evermore desperate attempts to avoid her husband’s increasingly more vicious attempts to uncover her whereabouts and to silence her. When her children are involved the stakes become higher and Sondra must trust the local and federal authorities to save her family and a caring alternative therapy community to save her mind.

The second thread is a life coaching manual. The woman’s difficult situation produced almost intolerable stress causing her to seek therapy. Her journey to successful therapy is cleverly entwined into the story of the novel. You hardly notice it within the intricacy of the story, but the thread runs through the plot leading to a success which could stand as a lesson to us all when she tries Energy Psychology and is led to teach others Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).

You can read the novel first, but do not overlook the coaching manual. Everyone deserves to read both aspects of this book.

Anyone can Lose Weight--Keeping it Off is the Problem

Anyone can lose weight! Some are more radical than others. Here are a few ways of getting rid of weight (there are literally thousands):

  • drinking diet drinks
  • stuffing yourself and then sticking your finger down your throat
  • practicing being a breatharian
  • eating only "rabbit food"
  • stapling the stomach
  • liposuction
  • following almost any diet

Why these methods often don't work (or if weight is lost, it almost always come back) is that they don't address the core issue with weight control. They don't get to what is under the fat. However, EFT can. If you don't get to your core issue(s)--then your weight comes back.

I have focused on physical pain on the EFT Pain Forum for a year, and found that when a person deals with the emotional issues under the pain, the pain itself can frequently be lessened or even eliminated.

The same is true with weight loss. By releasing the hidden issues, you can let go of the reasons you are fat. Andrea Amador inspired me with the posts that she made on the EFT Weight Loss Forum. Her frank sharing about her struggles and triumphs with losing weight helped me get to my core weight issues. I was scared to say anything on the weight loss forum because I was afraid that I was going to slip back into my old bingeing behavior. I guess eating a half pound of See's Candy could be considered a binge.

So, the same principles apply with diet as with anything else and EFT--getting to the core issue, and Tapping into Universal Energy.

FYI: I have lost 27 pounds and counting.

EFT Helps Relieve Ganja Craving

“John” came to me because he wanted to drastically cut back on his marijuana use. He views marijuana as a medicine and has been using it for much of his life. I asked him what he would like in terms of his marijuana use, and he said that he would like to smoke it only on weekends and for creative endeavors.

He confessed that he felt that he was addicted to pot. John said that he smoked it several times every day. He used marijuana to get in touch with his body. He smoked it before he works (he is a handyman); he uses it before he writes poetry; he smokes before he spins fire and works out.

After talking with John for a while, it seemed clear that he felt marijuana helped him connect with his spirit, to meditate and to breathe. He liked the feeling of being a cool dude, and his inner teenager wasn’t sure if he would be cool without pot.

He seemed to enjoy it so much I asked him why he would want to cut back. He replied that he would soon be starting an inside job, and he wanted to be clean when he goes to work. He also complained that his lungs hurt and in the morning he sometimes wheezed. John also complained about his penchant for getting speedy on strong coffee and then mellowing out with a joint, then repeating the cycle again and again.

I asked him if he had any marijuana on him, and he pulled out a small stash. I asked him to smell it and get his get his craving to spike. The intensity was only a 3 or 4 out of 10. Since I hadn’t known what the session would be about, I hadn’t been able to ask him from refraining for the day, at least until after our session.
Because he had smoked some pot a couple of hours before his session, I realized I had my work cut out for me.

His first set phrases were Even though:
.....I have been smoking marijuana most of my life, I deeply and completely love and accept myself
.....Marijuana helps me drop into my body…
.....I don’t know if I can go without marijuana for a day…

He tapped for several rounds and when he stopped I had him smell the pot and his craving went up to a 5-6. I asked if he had any insights and he said that he really identified with marijuana.

The next set of rounds we used “being cool” as a reminder phrase. After tapping, he smelled the marijuana again, and I had him imagine inhaling the smoke into his lungs, then watch the smoke curl up, and then the immediate gratification of dropping into his self (these were all things he had told me). His intensity had gone up to an 8. Had I gone too far? Was it getting close to the time in which he was going to smoke his evening joint? When I asked him about it, he answered truthfully that it was….

Some of the final set-phrases we used were, Even though:
.....My inner teenager wants to smoke pot whenever I want, there is another part of me that wants to be in control of this situation, and I deeply and completely love and accept myself, and I forgive myself for letting marijuana be in control of me
.....I am the Ganja King…
.....I am not sure of who I will be without marijuana controlling me…

His reminder phrase was Ganja King. After a couple of rounds I had him tap and bitch about his fears of life without marijuana.

After an hour and a half session, his intensity was a 6. He needed to be on his way. I told him that it looks like we would have more to work on.

The next morning he called to tell me that he had gone dancing and he did not smoke marijuana! He assured me that he felt in his body without marijuana. Today, when I went to the market I saw John again (two days after our session). He still had not used any marijuana since our session. He smiled from ear to ear as he thanked me profusely for my help.

Tapping Back into Exercise

Yesterday a client asked me how to use EFT to help her start to exercise. "Ellen" works at home on her computer for long hours, sometimes 12-15 hours a day. Her resistance to doing exercise was a 10 out of 10.

Here are some of the set-up phrases we used, Even though:
.....I hate to exercise, I deeply and completely love and accept myself, and I forgive myself for not exercising very much these last couple of years
.....I am physically lazy…
.....I am not a physica athlete, but I am a mental athlete, and I wish that I could think about exercising…
.....my exercise has been to walk from the studio to the kitchen to the bedroom…
.....there are not quite enough hours in the day…
.....I have other things that I would rather do and need to do than exercise…
.....there needs to be another one of me to do all of the things that I need to do...

Her reminder phrase was Resistance to Exercise.

Doing four rounds of tapping brought the intensity of her resistance to exercise down to a 5.

She told me that she would rather exercise than tap. So, you can probably guess what her next set-up phrase was, Even though I'd rather exercise than tap…; and Even though a part of me doesn't feel like exercising...

When I sensed that the intensity had lessened I had her affirm the positive:
.....Exercising makes me feel wonderful
.....I love the endorphins that come about when I exercise
.....I love moving my body
.....I love the way that exercise clears my mind
.....exercising makes me feel more energetic
.....I feel calm and centered
.....I have more than enough time to exercise

This brought her resistance to exercising down to a 1-1.5. As she shared with me that she felt like getting up and exercising right then instead of waiting until the next morning like we had talked about, I suggested that she do just that.

During our latest session she shared that she had gone for a walk right away, and that she had followed my advice about taking it easy. Ellen reported that she'd had a wonderful walk. She fell asleep at 10—which was unusual, and then went for another walk this morning.

Ellen wanted to know if she needed to continue to tap about exercising. My suggestion was if she didn't feel like exercising, tap. If there was no resistance—then she wouldn't need to tap, but just to get out and walk.
